Lead Pastor

Michael was called to preach the Gospel at the age of 20 and began full time ministry at 21 years old. Michael has pastored churches in Wilson, Clayton, and most recently in New Bern. He returned to Wilson and joined the staff at Connect Church as Lead Pastor in July of 2018. Michael has a passion to reach out into the community and to lead Connect Church to ‘Be Jesus’ to the world around us. The heart of Michael’s preaching and teaching is exposing the heart of God for all people through the abundant grace that is found through Jesus Christ.


Associate & Children’s Pastor

Doug previously served our church as Associate Pastor for over eight years.  His past work here included leading the children’s ministry and many of the outreach efforts.  Doug has had a lifelong involvement in ministry work and has served continuously in pastoral roles since 1997.  Doug graduated from North Carolina State University in 1987 with a B.S. degree in Agronomy.  He served ten years with the Natural Resources Conservation Service and also worked in other businesses.  He is the director of Harvesters International Ministries and coordinates their efforts in the African nations of Rwanda and the D.R. Congo.  Doug and his wife, Pam, have two daughters and live in Wilson.


Student & Family Pastor

Joe Strange has been in ministry for 20 years. He was called into full time ministry in 1999 and was ordained in 2000. He has served at First Baptist Church of the Islands in Savannah, Georgia and Raleigh Road Baptist Church here in Wilson before coming to Connect Church.  He has been involved with students in some capacity for all 20 years of ministry. He currently serves as Family Pastor at Connect Church. His passion is to watch families be changed and transformed by Jesus. Joe is working on his Association of Certified Biblical Counselors Certification. His desire is to go back and get his Master’s Degree in Biblical Counseling. He is passionate about counseling families using the scriptures found in God’s Word. “God’s Word has everything we need to help deal with our issues. Especially those issues that deal with family” He also serves as the chaplain for the State Troopers in Wilson and Greene County. He previously served as chaplain over the Savannah-Chatham Police Department while in Savannah, Georgia. He passionately pours into and wants to make a difference in his community.
